my birthday celebration

Timetable for birthday
monday's timetable
9am-12nn PL Developmental processes
6.30pm-8.30pm Tr3001 New Product development (this lesson supposed to be 3pm-6pm, but it was changed to combined lecture, for a workshop on New Ideas generation. Well it was quite a fun and informative brainstorming session with my lecture mates, and i learnt quite abit).

Due to this horrible timetable, I was unable to celebrate dinner with family/friends. Not to mention my disgusting non-stop coughing. Those who have been in my class would have had a taste of the coughing. I feel like I'm trying to cough out my lungs through my mouth, to no avail. It doesn't want to come out though. haha

Anws, as you guys must have guessed, I went to celebrate (a little) on Sunday. My family wanted to treat me to a nice dinner, but as me, my sis and my mom are all sick (My sis coughing like me, my mom lost her beautiful voice), i suggested not celebrating. Anws, as a casual thing, we went to Terminal 3 of the airport to see if it was as good as what the news have been saying. Well, I'd say it is not really worth a visit. We had high expectations of the Terminal, but it wasn't as beautiful as expected (or hyped about). Its architectural concept was slightly disappointing, and we found the ceiling of the Terminal 3 to be slightly unappealing. There were many high-end shops at the Terminal, and the Sky Train to Terminal 3 was carpeted. It was rather crowded also, with mostly locals who are also tourists there like my family. We saw the departure hall though, it was nicer and looked like it was designed with the rich tourists in mind.

Speaking of Terminal 3, our family likes this particular stall selling Dumpling noodles in the 3M foodcourt. So we also went there for a small feast. Not forgetting, I saw Junyuan and his family in TPY hub, one particular carpark. I guess he dint recognise me since he doesn't know me.

It was a tiring and sleepy afternoon after the feast and Terminal 3 stroll, so I slept all the way back home in the car. Nice!!

In the evening, I met up with my beloved. He had a surprise for me, and I wondered what it was. I was still coughing badly, so he found me rather quiet. I had to keep quiet since I dint want to cough too much or get my throat too dry if i talk too much. Anws, we walked from the Bukit Batok central to Little Guilin , where we settled on a rock. He produced some boxes of Sparklers and we were playing Sparklers for a celebration =D nice! and starrry sparkly!! Anws, we walked further to the Bukit Gombak Stadium, and he found a stack of postcards on the rack, he wanted to burn them. So we took it back to the rock and burnt them. It was quite nice after awhile. It was warm, and the whole place was lighted up. However, it got too smoky and sooty after awhile, and if you get ur face too close, it wont be nice.

After awhile, we burned the entire stack of postcards, together with sparklers occasionally which gave alot of stary sparks, and the postcards were swelling up cos they were coated with some plasticky materials, and they burned differently. The fire would gush out at the edge of the postcards! very exciting burning. haha. Also, the sparklers boxes had colors! when we burned them, they glowed greenish, so the fire burning off them were green, maybe something made of copper lols.

anws, we were all smelling of smoke by the time we finished burning, and we walked back to the Central for a meal. Since the walk was rather long, we decided to burn the sparklers along the way, also it can dispel our fantasies of delicious food haha. The sparklers surprised passers-by and they gave many funny looks. a kid actually shouted cos he was kinda scared, and made his mother laugh lols. The stars flying out of the sparklers are really beautiful! and the sparks hit the hands to give a warm feeling. hehe. Arul wanted to eat Pizzahut cos he was super famished by then. but i wanted the healthy option and decided to take Subway. hehe. It was close to 9.45pm by the time we bought our Subs, and we went to check out whether there're any good movies. but nopes, not a chance, and i suddenly got really sleepy, so we went home.

That was how the Sunday ended. Throughout the whole time in the morning, i wanted to go to school library to mug. haha. but i dint la, of course.

Back to Monday.
Monday I had a nice surprise. Usually my dad opens the letter box. So presently, he came home in the mid afternoon, and he passed me a parcel-like thing. The first thing i thought of when he passed it to me, looking at the size of it, was that it was probably from Christina! lo and behold! I was right. The addressee - my name, had many fishes drawn around it. haha. so of course, i knew it had to be Christina! who else would draw fishes right? lols. I was so happy and excited, and i went to open it almost immediately, after shaking it around to try to guess what it was la. haha. my sister was excited to see too. So i went to open it up and it was our Journal of Promise! hehe. That's how she named it. I was so excited and happy, at the same time, thinking that too bad ur birthday is in the end of this year. poor thing. have to wait so long for it hehe.
ACtually, i didn't open the card until tonight, just a few hours before i started blogging this post, because i was rushing to my class in the evening, so i wanted to open it when I had time to read it. I love the picture and the card and the bracelet!! SUGOI!!
(i was kinda hoping she would remember the locklet tho) haha

Anws, monday after class, arul met up to pass me my birthday present. He insisted not to give it to me the day before since it wasn't my birthday. so he met me at HV for dinner (he missed the bus stop at sunset way, so we met at HV instead). As usual (nowadays) he's starving and he suggested ThaiExpress. I wasn't that keen but i went along with it, since he's starving. For some reason, I don't really have much appetite for dinner lately due to my incessant coughing that kills my appetite.
He ordered this Beef curry with rice that's really spicy and hot and delicious, and I ordered this fried Kway Teow with vegetables (For vegetables lovers). IT was really good! hehe. So we had a great dinner and the service was especially great! the waitresses and waiters were very friendly and polite for some reason (remembering my last visit at the same outlet, it wasn't that fantastic). anws, so we enjoyed our dinner. The Red bean milkshake was a tinge too sweet though.

He brought me to this quiet park beside the Cold storage, which we called the toilet park. It has a mini exercise play ground there, with many metal benches for couples to catch the breeze. The main reason why we call it the toilet park is because there're many sculptures there, with their main theme being the toilet bowl. You guys probably have seen it before while walking from the bus stop to cold storage right? haha
Anws, he said he needed time to 'prepare' the gift, and had me look away. Well, i couldn't see much without my specs in the dark anyway. so i went to play on the exercise machines, they're nicer than those downstairs my house. So there was the birthday surprise! It was a shock at first, then a surprise when I opened it lols.

will upload the photos but i think it probably cant be transferred from my phone to the laptop. =(

not forgetting to mention all my friends who wished me happy birthday - Thank You to you guys!! Happy CNY shopping too hehe!!

modes of invention - project 1

Our first invention! The leyden jar =) I'm too excited, so I'm putting a diagram of the leyden jar first. Will take a photo of what we've done and then post it here. hehe From now onwards, we'll have weekly projects like these to brighten up our boring school life. haha And I'll probably be spending alot of time at Yuwen's house. haha

The leyden jar worked so well during the lesson that the spark produced was HUGE!! bigger than the pendulum bob!! it was so COOL! ahha

new post for the new school week

The start to this semester was terrible. I was down with this horrible sickness that left me feeling half dead the entire week during school. Bad bad sickness. I still dun know wad it is, so that's all i can call it - sickness.

The sickness pervades each minute, going to school became harder as walking a few steps up the staircase left my heart racing and me totally breathless. Just walking was that bad. And my legs were totally tired such that walking more than a snail's pace got me so tired and my legs so jellyish.
What's more, that is just physical. Mentally, I was also very tired. I wonder why. Perhaps fever and headaches are like lightning or electricity bursts that are overly active, and makes your head burst -literally. I couldn't look at a direction for more than a few seconds. Paying attention in class was a huge challenge, it felt worse than climbing a mountain. Seriously. haha. Oh well, you get my point.

Anws, you guys must be thinking - WTF is this woman going on and on about her suffering I am not even interested. Well. My purpose is to point out that this gives me a new perspective about school. For the previous semesters, I am either excited that school is starting, or bored about school starting. I always took it for granted that school is just school - the journey there, attend class, go home. that kinda thing. However, this 1st week of school, I had to endure. Endure the pain, endure the splitting head. Focus on the words of the lecturer that sometimes look like a polar bear to a flicker of light - trust me, when you open and close your eyes intermittently during class due to some migraine , and when the lecturer talks fast or something alien, you might think they are polar bears from another continent altogether!

Well I learnt that basic things should not be taken for granted and that life isn't that simple. When you fall sick, you cant just skip class. Things cannot be taken lightly and they must be faced with an attitude of seriousness, sincerity (dealing with people when your head exploding), and of course, humor. Humor works alot!

Yep, that's my short post on the new week of school. back to the bed zzz

saving a cat in the canal

of all the things i've done recently, today's event was the most memorable.
we were walking outta CDANS @ bukit batok not knowing wad to do, where to go, cos of the horrible rainy season when we heard a cat's moaning meowing. Those who have heard it (i bet everyone has heard it at least once in their lifetime, if they're aware of their surroundings) will know how it feels like. It makes ur heart moan, cry, hurt. Well, we were strolling out towards the bus stop as we heard it. We perched on the tips of our shoes, listening intently for the source of the sorrowful cries that kept resounding. We started to pinpoint the direction of it - there we pointed!- it is coming from there! but we could see nothing, though the noises were loud and sounded a little like echoes. We felt that our hearts could almost jump out. but still, we see nothing. suddenly, as if it was a moment of insight or as if the cat told us, we knew it was coming from below. Prancing towards the canal, we looked down over the wet green rails.

MAOH - it cried, looking at us in dismay with its pathetic yellow eyes. it was totally drenched and wet, and it was crying. if it was a human, the whole canal would have been half flooded with its tears. but cats dun really tear much i think. it was just shivering and totally drenched, half perching on the side of the canal, where the water level was lower. What a terrible sight we beheld!! you've never seen a more sad sight! Well, we decided to look for something to haul it up.. when we could find nothing, no long stick, pole or rope, we walked along the canal, hoping to find a ladder to go down to pick it up. Life cannot be wasted like that. Meanwhile the heart wrenching cries continued.

we walked further and further away from where we first found the cat, and we actually walked to the other side of Cdans where the golf course was, until we found a long stick, and what seemed like a ladder tied to the wet green rails. We ambled towards it in the long wet dirty grass that sometimes gave way to a deeper undergrowth. All for the sake of saving that poor cat outta the wet canal. upon reaching, we discussed with the golfing boy who was at a tent next to the ladder (it was inside the premises of Cdans). He told us tat the current level of the water in the canal is safe for us to get down. So Arul decided to go down since im not the best person too. we both just kinda did that arrangement automatically la. So he got down, i stayed on the grass, hoping he wont slip on any algae inside. Then we walked back to the cat, it's like the distance between 2 bus stops. Anws, i had to walk back through the horrible grass again, and both of us walked together, him in the canal hoping not to attract too much unneeded attention, and me too. Well the most exciting and unforgettable part is coming soon. AHH

i cant put the image out of my mind. it is so vivid, as if it were just happening. the moment i close my eyes, it appears. the face of the cat when it was so scared. Arul took it up, it was shivering so badly and it was so wet. He dint wana carry it back all the way, so he thought of an idea. he decided to throw the cat up so i could catch it. I WAS SO TERRIFIED. One can imagine the scary things of the cat hitting the floor if it fell, or hitting its head on the wet green rails if he threw it sideways, or scratching me all over my face if i banged into it. it could be anything. I was so scared i could have cried. Well i didn't, at that time. but now i think of it, i cringe. Well anws, he decided to throw it up, ignoring my pleas. He threw it. and the cat came high, almost into my hands, but i was too scared to grab it. I was so scared i'd hurt it - the poor cat with his scared face. his eyes were so yellow and so big and huge like saucers in his shrivelled face. AH. well, I told myself i cant bring myself to see it so scared another time. So i pulled up my socks for the 2nd throw. I had to. Arul had to, too. He caught it nicely when it fell. But the cat made so much ruckus, i bet we were all scared stiff. He threw it again, quickly. And i caught it, not too nice, but i hugged the poor creature, and put it on the ground. it was shivering, cold, mewing badly. I almost cried. My heart felt so sad for it. Luckily it's ok now. It mewed non-stop. shivered terribly. I was afraid it would die. he crawled around the ground, as if in search for something, some family or some shelter. it din't find it. I stroked its wet mangled fur, and whispered words like 'its alright' 'you'll be ok' 'everything is alright now'. I have never once in my life felt so close to life and death. I really thought it might die any moment cos its heart was beating so fast and its whole small body was shivering so much and shaking so much. I was so scared. Dint know wad to do. So i just squatted beside it, and kept stroking its wet fur, telling it everything will be ok, and things like that. i mewed to it too. to reassure it. it kept looking at me once in awhile with its yellow eyes. i waited for arul to appear. i looked far ahead, and saw him climbing up the ladder. i looked again and he was jogging towards me. by then, the cat was more stable on ground. and we decided to bring him to the toilet to dry him. off we went, going up by the back door leading to the toilet. pets not allowed in cdans right.

anws, it became slightly better - less scared. we dried him using toilet paper. wow he was so muddy and wet. cats hate water i think. that's why he was so scared. still shivering ALOT. but well, he listened to me when i talked to him to come to me. he was so poor thing.

oh well, it ended well cos after he was kinda half dried, he looked fuzzy and more like a normal cat. his shivering also decreased and his mewing too. he was so cute too! well, i was so reluctant to part with it. after drying it more under the hand dryer which was warm, with him cuddled ever so cutely on my arms, i really couldn't bear to let him go. so sad. well he finally decided to hide under a car, in the carpark at cdans. well, he stopped mewing in the pathetic way, so we went to wash up and left him there.
