i attended a talk on cancer this Saturday.. It was organised by Care Cancer, a singaporean cancer society. As some of you guys might know, the head of Care Cancer is Billy Wang. Anws.. there were 3 talks in the afternoon, and I'd like to talk about 2 of the 3 talks. One was on this Non-invasive surgery technique that is performed to remove cancerous tumours in patients. The other was on Music Qigong therapy that has positive effects on cancer patients' recovery.

I found this talk especially interesting and useful in my course of study since there're actual techniques that can alleviate pain and suffering in patients terminally-ill. Psychology may help, but it's kinda secondary/tertiary help. compared to medicine or psychiatry, psychology is kinda behind its real effectiveness in a sense.

Non-Invasive surgery
All of us know that surgery is required to remove cancerous tumours in traditional surgery, which still applies for a large proportion of cancer tumors nowadays. With the advent of medical science and techniques however, Dr Wang Zhi Biao and colleagues have come up with this non-invasive i.e. non-surgical (no blood spilled) technique called HIFU technique. This technique has helped remove tumors in women's wombs (for women with cervical cancer) and has helped save the lives of many women. There were many women in the past who had their cervix removed, thus removing their reproductive system, leaving women gender-less.

Isn't that wonderful? Actually you can explore the site i included under HIFU technique to read up more about it =)

Music Therapy
This is invented by this prodigy master called Wu Shen. He knows more than 50 musical instruments and used the culmination of them all, together with his knowledge and research into the history of Chinese philosophy and music, and also his knowledge of Physics, to research into Therapeutic music for the body. His 30 year research has yielded tremendous results! He has created music that has healed many cancer patients! Just by listening to the music, the tone and specific vibration of it makes certain cells in the body 'dance' and move accordingly, which have healing properties. this research has been acknowledged in the West, and many celebs have actually benefitted from it as well! Even animals can be helped too, as a lady's dog who had cancer was cured from it after listening to the therapeutic music =)

You guys can find this website here.. There's much more explanation of the techniques used by Master Wu Shen in the website.

I greatly encourage u guys to read through these things since they're largely relevant in our lives!

This guy is a fake. A true music therapist never sells CD because there is no specific music for specific diagnosis. Current practice in music therapy is not based on specific tones or frequencies for "cure." I checked with a music therapy professor from China and he said this guy has never received any music therapy training in china nor anywhere in the world. I also checked with US side, he is not any full-time faculty at any univ in the States. He is only known as a musician and speaker here and there. He is also not a music therapist in the States. Music therapists in the States must carry a credential of MT-BC in order to practice in the States. If he is indeed a music therapist in the States, it is very easy to verify his credential. For Singaporean seeking music therapy help, be smart and don't spend unnecessary money buying nonsense CDs. Truly trained music therapists DO NOT sell CDs. You can verify if your music therapist is a truly trained music therapist via the Association for Music Therapy (Singapore). If your music therapist is from the States, you can verify online, go to www.cbmt.org. If your therapist is from Taiwan, write to the Taiwan music therapy association, they can verify for you. Music therapist from China, write to Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. To date, there is only one truly trained music therapist in China.

Music therapy is not invented by Wu Shen lah...what a joke! If it is qigong with background music, then it is not music therapy. Music therapy is a very specialized field and you do need proper credential to practice. I think this guy is a qigong master not music therapist. If I were to do a heart transplant with music and my surgery has 100% success rate, should I start selling my heart transplant CDs??? Obviously it's my surgical skills and not music. I think many people out there are confused with what is music therapy.
